Aarogya Setu is the number #1 top free app ( Google Playstore ) with more than 100+ million installs. It is an Indian app developed by National Informatics Centre, which is fully managed by Goverment of India. It was released on 2 April 2020 When the whole country was fighting with pandemic called Corona. App is currently available in 12 Indian languages, And it is fully designed with the aim to keep track of other app users that a person came in contact with.
How does Aarogya Setu work?
The Aarogya Setu App uses the smartphone’s GPS and Bluetooth features and tells how many COVID-19 positive cases are likely in a radius of 500 m, 1 km, 2 km, 5 km and 10 km from the user. In case any person that you came in contact with in the last 7-14 days tests positive for coronavirus, the app automatically calculates your risk of infection based on the data it gathered.
App works only if user provides all the required permissions, the app requests for some basic info that will help build data about the users. The application also asks if the user belongs to any one of the spared category of professionals.
Is Aarogya Setu App mandatory?
No, There is no such statements from Goverment. But if you’re going to travelled during pandemic via public transport, you may asked to show your smartphone having Aarogya Setu App installed.
In a recent order Central government made it mandatory for all employees to download the app and use it. Between the Office (check in and check out) timing they must review their status on Aarogya Setu App and commute only when the app shows safe.
Does aarogya setu app work without internet?
Yes, It can be work without internet if you’ve done required intial setup ( which needs internet connection). To make it work even without internet, users must switch on their ‘bluetooth’ and set the location sharing to ‘ Always’ to ensure that the app is able to derive all the relevant information for the benefit of whole community.
